My name is Jannike (pronounced Yah-ni-ka) and I am originally from Norway, although I have lived in the US most of my life. I have been teaching Special Education for 13 years, either in middle school or at the high school level. Before I was a teacher, I was a Paraprofessional for 3 years. Prior to that, I was a Nurse. I have a Master's degree in Special Education, emphasis Severe Needs, and a BSN in Nursing. All of my education experience has been in self-contained classrooms and I have worked with students that have a wide range of disabilities. My current position is as a teacher in a middle school moderate-severe needs program, and most of my students have autism.
On a personal level, I have 2 grown children, and live with my boyfriend on 3 acres on an island outside of Seattle. I commute by ferry every day, and it is heavenly! We have 4 dogs and a cat (all rescues) that bring us both great joy.
